SERENEDI for Snowflake

Healthcare EDI, Native to Snowflake

Install from the Snowflake Marketplace. Query HIPAA EDI with the SQL you already use. Your data never leaves your Snowflake account.

Zero Deployment

No servers to provision. No software to install. No infrastructure to manage. Install SERENEDI directly from the Snowflake Marketplace in under 10 minutes.

100% In Your Account

SERENEDI runs entirely inside your Snowflake environment using Snowpark Container Services. Your HIPAA data never leaves your account. No BAA required with Chiapas EDI.

Same SQL, Same Data

Query your EDI data with the same Snowflake SQL you use for everything else. Join claims data with your analytics tables. No context switching, no additional tools.

How It Works

SERENEDI for Snowflake is a Native App built on Snowpark Container Services (SPCS). When you install it from the Marketplace, the application creates its processing engine inside your Snowflake account — using your compute resources, your storage, and your security boundary.

You provide EDI files by uploading them to a Snowflake stage. SERENEDI’s trigger system detects new files, parses them against HIPAA implementation guide rules, and loads the structured data into tables in your account. From there, it’s standard Snowflake SQL.

Outbound works in reverse — populate a stage with CSV or XML data using SERENEDI’s documented templates, and the platform generates fully compliant X12 EDI transactions.

Architecture

Compute: SERENEDI runs as containerized workers on a Snowflake compute pool (CPU_X64_S). The HEARTBEAT orchestrator manages worker lifecycle — spinning up containers to process events and shutting them down when work is complete.

Storage: All EDI data, configuration, and processing artifacts are stored in your Snowflake account. Inbound and outbound files use Snowflake stages. Parsed data lands in standard Snowflake tables.

Security: SERENEDI authenticates via SPCS OAuth tokens. No external network access required. No data leaves your account. The application requests only the minimum permissions needed to operate — compute pool, warehouse, and stage access.

Supported Workflows

All eight SERENEDI integration workflows are available in the Snowflake Native App.

Snowflake vs. On-Premises

Both deployment options deliver the same SERENEDI processing engine and full HIPAA transaction coverage. Choose the model that fits your infrastructure.

Getting Started

1

Install from Marketplace

Find SERENEDI on the Snowflake Marketplace and install it. The app runs the GRANT_CALLBACK to provision a compute pool and warehouse in your account.

2

Upload EDI Files

Place your EDI files in the SERENEDI_DATA input stage. Configure triggers to monitor for new files and specify which workflows to run.

3

Query with SQL

Call HEARTBEAT() to process events. Your parsed EDI data appears in standard Snowflake tables — ready to query, join, and analyze with any Snowflake-compatible tool.

Requirements

Snowflake Account with ACCOUNTADMIN or equivalent privileges for initial setup

Compute Pool — CPU_X64_S instance family (provisioned automatically during installation)

Warehouse — Any size (XS is sufficient for most workloads)

Additional Infrastructure — None. SERENEDI runs entirely within your Snowflake account.

Security & Compliance

SERENEDI for Snowflake is designed to keep your HIPAA data exactly where it belongs — in your environment.

No Data Exfiltration

SERENEDI does not transmit any consumer data outside your Snowflake account. No external API calls, no telemetry containing PHI, no data sharing with the provider account.

Minimum Privilege

The application requests only the permissions it needs: compute pool access, warehouse usage, and stage read/write. All grants are explicit and visible to your account administrator.

No BAA Required

Because Chiapas EDI Technologies has no access to your data, a Business Associate Agreement is not required. Your existing Snowflake BAA covers the infrastructure.

Pricing

$5,000 / year
